Project Sweet Stuff is a food, travel and lifestyle collective. With so many stories and experiences to share, Sarah, Elaine, Rindala and Viola will be using projectsweetstuff.com as a landing pad between life’s sweet destinations.
Viola Marie Bechara
Viola Marie Bechara is a Sydney based writer, cake decorator, food enthusiast and frequent jet setter. Formerly the Editor of The Journal Magazine Australia, Viola relishes the opportunity to explore the little curiosities that she defines as the sweet life. With a background in Visual Arts and English Education, Viola has finally found her groove with a healthy balance of writing, visual styling and producing fine wedding cakes for Sydney’s soon to wed. Having been mentored by the talented team at Faye Cahill Cake design, Viola has travelled to USA to teach the Australian cake decorating method at Baking Arts in one of her favourite cities in the world, San Francisco. A firm believer that travelling is not something that one can simply ‘get out’ of their system, Viola credits her accomplishments to hours of research, planning and her insatiable desire to travel – for Viola, staying stagnant is never an option. When Viola is away from her laptop, smart phone and finally puts down the rolling pin, you might find her cuddling puppies, ducks, kittens and all creatures cute and wonderful.

Sarah Ayoub is a freelance journalist and author based in Sydney. Her work has appeared in numerous titles including Marie-Claire, Sunday Style, Cosmopolitan, Cleo, House & Garden and more, and she has run numerous workshops and talks for emerging writers with Vibewire, the Emerging Writer’s Festival, NSW Writer’s Centre and Walkley Foundation. She has a Master of Media Practice from the University of Sydney and has taught journalism at the University of Notre Dame, Australia. Sarah’s path to writing stemmed from her desire to be Clark Kent and Lois Lane’s love child (inheritor of enviable journalistic skills and the ability to fly) and because her plan to be a psychiatrist was shelved after a viewing of The Sixth Sense. She considers herself an old soul citizen of the world and has a penchant for all things pretty, Parisian and inspired by beautiful by-gone eras. Sarah’s ideal ‘sweet life’ involves loads of books, high teas and journeys to far-off destinations with nothing but exploration, eating and writing on her itinerary.

You could say that Sydney based Elaine Nasr is a natural-born Engineer. From a tender young age, Elaine would lose herself in her Dad’s tool shed, reconstructing electric toy cars and joining him at work, often posing as the foremen on his job sites. Determining future studies was not difficult, as Elaine’s knack for building led her to study an Advanced Diploma of Electrical in Computer Systems Engineering at the Sydney Institute of Technology. Elaine continued studies with a Bachelor of Software Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney. When Elaine secures some down time, she hunts for gadgets that claim to make life more efficient and exciting, and gives them a run for their money. Elaine is big on going against the boring norm, and although a softy at heart, Elaine chases the thrill of adrenaline packed experiences like skydiving (already ticked off her bucket list). With a surprising love for Rugby League, Elaine firmly believes that St George Illawarra Dragon’s blood runs through her veins and on any given Sunday (when the Footy is in off season), you’ll find Elaine amongst great company discovering tucked away cafes and bars in her local Sydney, or planning a road trip to soak up some rays by the salty sea.

Rindala Katrib is a Sydney based lawyer with a 9-5 mind full to the brim with legal jargon and deadlines, making her a down-time devotee and clichéd caffeine addict. With a degree in Media and Communications, Rindala had originally set upon a career in the arts, but soon changed lanes and followed the professional road to the law. Not that it’s all books and computer screens- Rindala has also worked in the bridal industry for fifteen years as a decorator and stylist. A firm believer in list making, Rindala’s list is Great-Wall-of-China-long and includes learning Arabic, how to sync her i-thingies and ride a bike. From daily sit down breakfasts, picnic blanket and seagull lunchtimes, to sneaky after hours spa treatments, Rindala will do whatever it takes to shake the weekday blues. That includes yearly shopping trips to the U-S-of-stAy, fleeting trips to Paris and soul searching in her Motherland, Lebanon. And now, Rindala shares the sweet life as she continues to discover it.
