Capital Kitchen Chadstone

I've always considered myself one of the lucky ones. Not because of anything other than this little fact; I get along with my Mother-in-law like a house on fire. Kevin's mum Honor lives in Melbourne, so anytime I'm passing through for work, I always try to add on a night or two. These short stays are usually consumed by long over due conversations about nothing in particular, movies, shopping, lunching, snacking, sprinkled generously with the all important tea and coffee breaks. The best part? Melbourne happens to be the perfect spot for all of the above. Lucky.

No trip to visit Honor is compete without an afternoon wandering through Chadstone Shopping Centre. On my most recent trip, we stumbled upon this gorgeous space called Capital Kitchen. Initially deciding that we'd just have coffee and tea, we thought we had picked a winner. I wandered through the various sections that displayed gorgeous artisan products - bottled sauces, jams, condiments and sweets. I wasn't until I saw the pre-made salads that I started feeling peckish. So we decided that 11:30am was close enough to lunchtime, and ordered away. Just like a traditional deli setting,Β we could choose more than one salad to fill up on. Being a lentil lover, I naturally gravitated toward the Roasted Beetroot Salad, with a side of the Quinoa salad, too. Honor opted for the pumpkin and chickpea, which she said she'd definitely be back for. The portions were decent, and the coffee was great. Unpretentious, clean and grounding - wholesome wins again. (But the pictures don't lie, we also had a bowl of fries.)
