The Sweet Life Sydney

I thought today would be a good time to share a little throwback.  Flying out to Los Angeles always has me feeling all sorts of giddy... and when I'm anxious, there's nothing like looking back on occasions like these to put things into perspective. In January, Lilit and I hosted out first ever What’s Your Sweet Life event in her home town LA. What we planned, all we anticipated and everything we imagined the event would be was on the lesser end of what actually took place on the night. When I came home to Sydney, I started the task of communicating to my friends and work associates just what the project was all about. While Lilit was on her Australian tour, we took the opportunity to host a smaller scale version of out first event. Gathered by only a few, Lilit and I introduced WYSL over a banquet of cheese and charcuterie, wine and bubbly, and fresh pasta hand crafted that day by my beautiful friend Monica; the best export to come out of Italy since gelato.

Then there came the styling. The gorgeous Cristina Lubarda took cake of the lot- all she knew was how many people were coming, what was being served, and that my sister's house was the location. The backyard became something that could have easily been featured in a lifestyle magazine. Her perfectly designed table scape set the magical tone for the night. Cristina can't help but pour her warmth and love into her work, and it's perfectly visible to anyone who has ever sat at a table styled by her. And have you met her fiancé? Shayben is the creative eye that works from behind the camera- all the shots you see here were lovingly captured by him. Power couple? I think so. #shaytina / #crisben - both work.

My brother George brought along his close friend and colleague, who also happens to be an incredibly talented musician. Xavier didn't have any instruments on him, so using my nieces small girl sized guitar, he strummed away and sang a few songs as all our our friends arrived and made their way to the delicious cheese station.

Like all of my gatherings I made sure I had some sweet stuff ready to serve for dessert, so I prepared a small selection of classic flavours. Chocolate and vanilla cakes sat pretty topped with fresh berries and flowers. By request of the Americans, there was also some fresh sticky date pudding with hot butter scotch sauce and whipped cream; definitely the crowd favourite. It was

And here goes... the next big event is taking place in Los angeles this week...

This is my sweet life.
